AUTHOR'S NOTE on First, Second, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Schedules:

The First Schedule was subs. by Act No.22 of 1995 w.e.f. 1.4.1995. As a result of rationalization of the tax structure the rates of tax have been revised. For purposes of easy reference the old rates are indicated above the new rates and the last column is added indicating the effective date of such rate in respect of all commodities.The said rates are effective upto 31.3.1995 subject to the exemptions/ concessions detailed in the foot-note. The narration of entry as subs. by Act No.22 is adopted except those marked in bold letters in column (1) and Nos. indicating the foot-notes giving reference to the notification issued earlier.
